Resort Company Information
From a single Arkansas location in 1966, to today's vast network of resorts, travel services and member privileges, Fairfield's role has been pivotal to the growth of timeshare in the United States. The company?s exceptional development standards, innovative products and unmatched hospitality expertise have all helped position Fairfield as the timeshare brand more families trust than any other.
Fairfield's History
1966
Fairfield began as a land development company selling subdivided lots, whole ownership condos and custom-built homes in large master-planned communities such as Fairfield Bay, Fairfield Sapphire Valley and Fairfield Glade. Lot and home sales in these and other locations continue to this day. Fairfield Resorts has introduced more families to timeshare than any other company in the world. Today, over half a million families enjoy the Fairfield lifestyle, vacationing annually at one of more than 70 world-class resorts in 21 states and U.S. territories ? representing 9,000-plus timeshare condominiums. Headquartered in Orlando, Florida, the company has close to 9,000 employees nationwide.
Exceptional Product Quality
From tropical beaches to pure Colorado powder to golf and golden sands, Fairfield Resorts offers a huge variety of quality vacation experiences. The company?s resorts are located in the most desirable destinations and rate among the highest worldwide in quality. Today, over 80% of all Fairfield resorts have been awarded a ?Gold Crown? or ?Resort of International Distinction? ranking by RCI, an elite honor only the top 10% of timeshare properties throughout the world have earned.
Continual innovations, like the company?s new upper-end tier of luxury Presidential Suites and Adventure Club (in which members may use their points for group tour excursions), further strengthen Fairfield's reputation for exceptional vacation choice among discerning travelers.

Region & Area History/Highlights:
Only 800,000 years old, the island of Hawaii is the youngest of the Hawaiian isles. It is also, by far, the largest island in the Hawaiian archipelago; its 4,028 square miles is more than twice the size of all the other major islands combined.
The "Big Island," in fact, is still growing. Kilauea volcano has been spewing molten lava since January 1, 1983, continually adding real estate to the island. The Big Island? other active volcano, 13,679-foot Mauna Loa, last erupted in March 1984. Mauna Loa is the world? largest volcano and covers about half of the island. Of the three remaining volcanoes on the island, Mauna Kea and Kohala are extinct, and Hualalai is considered to be dormant (it last erupted in 1801).
Exchange Club Information
As the timeshare concept took hold in the United States, Fairfield began selling FairShare, a deeded ownership interest that provided an annual resort vacation at a specific location during a specific time period each year. FairShare owners could exchange? these preset locations and dates through Fairfield's internal exchange program, also know as FAX (FairShare Exchange of Fairfield Resorts, Inc.). While owners could visit other Fairfield resorts through FAX or non-affiliated resorts with the help of timeshare exchange companies like RCI (Resort Condominiums International), most remained locked in to a specific annual vacation week, also known as fixed-week timeshare.
In 1991, the company forever changed the face of the timeshare industry by introducing FairShare Plus, a revolutionary concept of points-based exchange. It was becoming apparent that people needed more flexibility with their time off in their vacation length, their choices of locations, when they traveled, and even the size of the unit they stayed in. FairShare Plus offered consumers substantially greater flexibility through a yearly allotment of points that could be spent in increments for custom-sized accommodations at any time of the year and for varying lengths of stay. Today, FairShare Plus is the third largest timeshare exchange network in the world (behind RCI and Interval International), and members can use their points both for resort stays and a wide variety of travel/leisure products including airfare, cruises, accommodations and specialized leisure activities and attractions.
Wyndham has recently bought Fairfield and Worldmark-Trendwest resorts as well as hundreds of other independent timeshare and other resorts that they upgraded, renovated or constructed new timeshare resorts all over the world. Their point system has expanded the older Fairfield version so that all former Fairfield and Fairshare owners now have complete access to all Wyndham timeshare resorts and all point rewards, which could include airfare, restaurants,Wyndham hotel stays, car rental and more. This has truly become a huge International Hospitality company, encompassing all former Fairfield resorts, therefore increasing the relative value of this and other former Fairfield resorts. For more complete information, please visit:www.wyndhamvacations.com, or speak to one of the timeshare specialists at Vacation Property Trader, Inc.
